The Art of Reset: How Your At-Home Wardrobe Can Help You Unwind
Our office outfits are often designed to make us feel more confident, but after years at one of the world’s leading sportswear labels, Angharad Carlton found comfort in her at-home wardrobe. Here, she shares why our sleepwear deserves a little more attention.
For years, my life moved fast. Leading teams at Gymshark, high performance was the baseline — long days, tight turnarounds, global campaigns, and an always-on mindset. I loved it: the pace, the ambition, the energy of being surrounded by people striving to be their best. But somewhere between the spreadsheets and the sprints, I forgot how to slow down.
Like so many women in high-pressure roles, burnout had quietly become the default. I’d convinced myself that being busy was the same as being successful. Spoiler: it’s not. We push ourselves to do it all — lead teams, travel for work, juggle family, friends, and everything in between — until the constant motion catches up with us. Over time, I learned that real ambition isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing it sustainably. Slowing down isn’t indulgent — it’s essential if we want to show up as our best selves during the week.
For me, slowing down starts with small rituals: early walks, switching on Do Not Disturb, a good coffee, fresh sheets, and the simple luxury of being in bed by nine. Learning the art of reset has been my biggest lesson — that slowing down doesn’t mean losing drive, but creating space to breathe within the busyness.
My weekends became sacred. Not the kind filled with plans or to-do lists, but the kind that remind you who you are outside of work — no meetings, no emails, just quiet mornings and shutting out the world in the place I feel most myself: home.

Home has always been my retreat. I’ve long been drawn to minimalist interiors and calm spaces that feel intentional — where everything serves a purpose. But I could never find sleepwear that reflected that same aesthetic: pieces that felt luxurious yet lived-in, refined yet relaxed.
At work, my wardrobe gave me confidence — sharp tailoring, clean lines, structure. At home? Nothing felt like me. Everything was either too silky to be practical or too slouchy to feel considered. So, I decided to create my own downtime wardrobe, and that’s where RESIDENCE began — inspired by the comfort of home and the belief that clothing can restore calm, confidence, and self-worth.
The intention was simple: to design sleepwear that feels as elevated as your weekday wardrobe, for women who want to feel put-together even in their downtime. The brand’s aesthetic is rooted in modern design — clean, versatile, and intentionally understated — for those who value comfort without compromise, while using only natural materials like European Flax™ linen and organic cotton. Each piece is crafted with care, made to last, and designed to feel effortless, whether styled with slides, sunglasses, and an oversized bag for a coffee run, or pared back, barefoot, hair tied up on a slow Sunday morning.
I chose linen because lounging in it feels like an extension of your bedding — soft, breathable, and quietly luxurious. And each set is intentionally oversized, minimalist, and relaxed in design. To me, that’s what modern comfort looks like: pieces that blur the line between what we wear to rest and what we wear to live. Because the future of ready-to-wear is versatility.
At its core, RESIDENCE is about creating calm within the chaos - simple, timeless pieces that embody quiet luxury and redefine what it means to truly switch off. Sleepwear should never be an afterthought. It’s the first layer of how we choose to show up for ourselves - comfortable, confident, and completely at ease.
